Pakistan's Foreign Minister Kasuri to visit Iran

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri will visit Iran next week for talks with his counterpart there, Online news agency reports.

The proposed gas pipeline to carry Iranian gas to India via Pakistan is expected to figure in Kasuri's talks, a foreign ministry official said.

Kasuri will also hold talks with his Iranian counterpart on 'various matters of mutual interest' during the Aug 9-10 visit, the official said. "

"Iran, Germany Call For Expansion Of Ties

TEHRAN (MNA) –- The German ambassador to Iran, Baron Paul von Maltzahn, in a meeting with Tehran Mayor Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad here Wednesday called for the expansion of Iran-Germany ties in all areas.

During the meeting, the German ambassador mentioned some of Tehran’s problems such as traffic congestion, inefficient public transport, and pollution from car exhaust.

Maltzahn stated that effective measures have been taken recently to partially resolve the traffic problem and reduce the amount of pollution produced by cars.

Efforts have been made to increase the speed of buses and the metro and the Municipality has also tried to expand the city’s green areas, he added.

Referring to the successful efforts to improve the standard of living, the ambassador said that a German company in Tehran is ready to cooperate with Iran on construction of the metro.

For his part, the Tehran mayor expressed hope that the German ambassador would take effective steps to help expand ties between the two countries."
