TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel said here on Tuesday that Iran is eager to bolster relations with African countries.

He made the remark in a meeting with visiting Ivory Coast's Prime Minister Seydou Elimane Diarra.

"Majlis (parliament) backs the government's efforts for expansion of Iran-Ivory Coast relations," Haddad Adel said.

He praised economic relations between the two countries in recent years, saying diversity of agricultural products in Ivory Coast as well as Iranian demands for the products would pave the way for boosting of ties more than ever before.

The Majlis speaker pointed to Iran's high scientific potentials and announced Iran's readiness to establish medical centers in Ivory Coast.

He also underlined the importance of bolstering bilateral diplomatic relations.

Haddad-Adel was optimistic that the two countries would share their experiences by founding parliamentary friendly groups.

Diarra, for his part, expressed his country's readiness to promote Iran-Ivory Coast economic, political and cultural ties.

He assessed as `valuable' the Iranian capabilities and called for Iran's cooperation in setting up scientific and medical centers in Ivory Coast."
