TEHRAN, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Iran will submit a complaint against former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein on the war he launched against Iran and the use of chemical weapons, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said Sunday.

'One of the crimes Saddam Hussein has committed is the attack on Iran and the use of chemical weapons. We have drafted a complaint and will submit it to the court trying him,' Asefi told reporters at his weekly press briefing.

'Saddam's trial should be transparent and deal with all his crimes so that the reasons behind such crimes would be clarified,' Asefi added.

He also criticized the special Iraqi tribunal for failing to count in the ousted-president's attack on Iran, which triggered the 1980-1988 war between the two countries.

Iranian Expediency Council Chairman and former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani made similar comments last Friday, saying the weakest point in Saddam's trial was that his crimes against Iran had not been included in his indictment.

The trial against Saddam started Thursday in Baghdad, with seven charges against humanity leveled. Enditem"
