River Pollution a Problem in Iran

: "Irans waters polluted

LONDON, July 10 (Iran Mania) - According to Irans Environment Protection Organization most of the Northern and Southern rivers in Iran such as Karoun and Bahmanshir and even the countrys seas are polluted and the consumption of fish in these waters may cause serious diseases, Shargh newspaper reported.

These waters are heavily polluted since the sewage of many factories flow into them. These pollutants are gradually absorbed by fish. If the rate of pollution is very high, it kills the fish; otherwise the fish grow and pose a danger for those eating them, the paper added.

The Environment Organization warned against eating the fish of these rivers. "
