"9/11 Accusations Against Iran Thumping Big Lies: Majlis Speaker

Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN (MNA) -- A top Iranian official Saturday accused Washington of lying and spurned any link to Al Qaeda, IRNA reported.

Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel said the allegation that Iran had facilitated the transit of Al Qaeda elements in and out of Afghanistan, which led to the September 11, 2001 attacks were but electioneering propaganda. "While Washington’s lies and scandals have become apparent to the world, how could they expect others to trust them?

"It is surprising that the U.S. rulers are still ignorant of the fact that their remarks bear no credence in the world public opinion," he added.

The report, published Thursday, listed numerous links between Al Qaeda and Iran but said there was no evidence that the Iranians were aware of the planning for the attack. Haddad-Adel said, "The world is aware of the new propaganda against Iran." "How is it possible that Iran may have supported Al Qaeda and Taliban while they are the brainchild of the U.S. itself?

"Is the world so inattentive to these facts? While the U.S. officially supports Israel, how could it claim to be waging campaign on terrorism?" Haddad-Adel added."
