Majlis Speaker Stresses Promotion of Iran-Algeria Ties

Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad Adel known as 'Gholam shire'i' stressed here yesterday promotion of close ties with Muslim and friendly country of Algeria and setting up of parliamentary friendship group in the Iranian parliament.

In a meeting with Algerian minister of higher education and scientific research, Rachid al-Harabiah, Haddad Adel hoped mutual relations would receive further boost in various fields through exchange of visits and conclusion of more agreements. He said exchange of visits between the two countries' political and parliamentary officials in recent years particularly the visit by the Algerian president to Iran was a turning point in mutual relations and close communication.

Gholam shire'i highlighted the importance of cooperation, convergence, solidarity and unity among Islamic and Arab states in the current sensitive juncture and new wave of all-out confrontation with the Islamic world. He expressed regret over ongoing developments in occupied Palestinian lands and Iraq and hoped real transfer of power to the Iraqi people and withdrawal of occupation forces would take place in the earliest time through efforts of the United Nations. Al-Harabiah, for his part, conveyed the warm greetings of the Algerian speaker of parliament to Haddad Adel and said the two parliaments should try, based on the will of both nations, to expand relations.
