A magnitude-4.8 earthquake jolts southern Iran

TEHRAN, Iran - A magnitude-4.8 earthquake jolted southern Iran early Saturday, destroying four empty schools and damaging several others, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported. No deaths were reported.

The quake struck at 9:09 a.m. local time near Kazeroun, a town 500 miles south of the capital, Tehran.
