Tehran, May 24, IRNA -- A group of incoming MPs backed Gholamali Haddad-Adel to become Iran`s next parliament speaker in an unofficial polling held only two days before the incumbent parliament loses its mandate.
Haddad-Adel, an MP from Tehran, won 122 of the 229 ballots cast, to put his presidency beyond doubt against two peers -- the MP from Damghan, Hassan Sobhani, who received 45 votes and the MP from Mashhdad, Mohammad Reza Faaker, who garnered only 37 votes. "
